Better For Blood Pressure

Nonalcoholic wine wins again

Canadian Living Magazine January 2013 Page 30.

Have the wine hold the alcohol

Recent research from Spain suggests drinking nonalcoholic red wine may help lower blood pressure. For four weeks, study participants (men with diabetes in at least three risk factors for cardiovascular disease) consumed 10 ounces of red wine a day; for another four-week period, they drank the same amount of nonalcoholic wine.

The results? two glasses of nonalcoholic wine a day lower blood pressure significantly more than the same amount of regular wine. Researchers suggest alcohol interferes with the polyphenols and antioxidants that decreased blood pressure, in red wine. Your waistline will benefit as well glass; a glass of nonalcoholic wine contains only 10 cal, while the regular stuff has125.
